This wasn’t your standard Atari 2600 that most people remember. This upgraded version was set to compete with the next-generation systems such as ColecoVision and Intellivision. I now had the luxury of playing Donkey Kong and Pac-Man right for my living room!
This would last for a few years until the Nintendo Entertainment System was released. The Nintendo put all other systems to shame. One of my best friends, Danny, and I were testing out the unit in a video store for the first time, and I remember talking about how video games couldn’t get much better than this.
Boy, was I wrong…
